Glasswort - sea lavender

Sea lavender sold in shops is actually leaves of the sea aster. The leaves of the plant called sea lavender are not eaten.

 

Cutting sea vegetables such as glasswort and sea lavender is prohibited in the Eastern Scheldt without a permit under the Nature Conservation Act. The permit issued each year by the province of Zeeland is valid for a certain part of one of the seven salt marshes where cutting may be carried out until 15 July.
